Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood - UK Achievement Race - The Rules

Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood - UK Achievement Race - The Rules
Written Thursday, July 02, 2009 by Dan Webb

Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood hits stores across the UK tomorrow, and chances are, if you’ve got yourself a good online retailer, you should have it by now. That means one thing ... it’s time to rack up those achievement points and enter the race for a gold plated Xbox 360. I repeat, a gold plated Xbox 360 (seriously, I could sit here and say that all day). See a picture of the prize here.

Thankfully, I’ve had chance to playthrough the game and get a feel for the achievements before this point, and as a result, we’re extending the initial 2 week window, to a 4 week window, simply because 2 weeks would be a push for a lot of people. The list requires two playthroughs at the very least, collecting all 80+ collectibles and racking up $1,000,000 online. That’s okay though, cause the game is a lot of fun. Check out our review here.

Right, that’s the chit chat done and dusted, let’s run on to the rules.

1. The competition is only open to residents of the UK. The UK does include Ireland before you ask.
2. This is a random giveaway with an entry stipulation of 1,000 points in Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood.
3. Players are required to get all 1,000 points without the use of any sort of illegal software.
4. Players will have until 31st July 23:59 to get all 1,000 points and sign up in the sign up thread here.
5. Players will need to post a link to their Xbox.com profile in their entry post.
6. Players should post in the entry thread ONLY when they have 1,000 points on their gamercard, visible on Xbox.com.
7. Confirmation of the winner will be sent to the Xbox Live tag that gets pulled out first via a random number generator.

Good luck folks. Happy achievement hunting.

Sounds like a waste of time. The achievements look a tad difficult and even if you're the first person to do it you;re not even guaranteed the prize

kinda lame rules. But great game for it! 1,000,000$ is going to be hard

The "race" part of it was taken out in case some people had their hands on the game early, legit or not. This levels the playing field and anyone who gets the game can try to win.

4 weeks is faar to long to make this worthwhile imo, this game could EASILY be done in a week, should be that the first person who completes it with the first achievement attained tomorrow (friday), as long as there are no dubious achievements unlocked, the grease monkey tool could be used to determine the first person.

It's still a race though, because you're racing against the clock ;)

You shouldn't have to defend yourself against these nay-sayers.

I don't have the game yet, 4 weeks somes, yes a bit generous but how can we complain about that?!

At least this gives me a chance to make the most of the Gears weekend.

It's a great prize and I will give it my best shot!

Oh I'm not defending ourselves Lumbo ... I mean A 0 E Monkey hasn't even played it ... so how could she know what's generous =P

People who say it's too much time have underestimated how long it could take ... it's a beast =P

@Lumbo - Yeah definitely. A totally different shooter pace, and a truly authentic western experience which is always great ;)

@#9 at that pace it would take you 267 hours to get $1 million.

I'm not sure anyone's gonna finish this? that means you need to play 10 hours a day for the whole month, unless Webb is just awful :)

I've read that it depends on the gametype. Someone on the forums posted they got something around 10,000 after one match. I can't remember who it was though.

If that's so then it should only take 100 good matches. Seeing as I'm usually a half-empty kind of guy, take the figure to be 200 matches.

Thats 8 games a day for 4 weeks. Seems manageable.

Please bear in mind I don't have the game yet. Getting it today :D

@#17 - Ha ha. I think I'm playing the wrong gametype most likely. Wild West Legends is fun as hell though ... but isn't that rewarding for gold.

@11 I haven't played it, but I'm sure with copies, from what I've seen, the million could be done in a couple of days. Also from how the achievement reads the million can be done in single player counts (since it says Ranked play counts). 2 weeks would be fair but 4 weeks just seems too much, may get it and knock it out if I get the cash tho ;)

Edit: with 6 copies cus that's what you need to boost right?

you can boost the online with 6 people in about 6-8 hours 4 weeks is too long.

ye bemused box some people actually find games fun and are good at them so x360a thought about giving the people who dont boost a chance and btw i dont have the game...
...is it like red dead revolver soon to be red dead redempton?

is that right because webb didnt say he had done it so if people didnt want to boost they didnt have too have you got insider info.

@Bemused - We wouldn't set up an achievement race that put any emphasis on boosting simply because some people don't boost and that wouldn't be fair to them =)

I dont know if there is anyway of telling if people have boosted the 1 millie, but I think that individuals that have boosted should be exempt from the competition. How is promoting boosting on a game a good thing? Surely you want to reward players who enjoy the game, and who are willing to put in the many hours to actually achieve the achievement, rather than essentially resorting to a sort of cheat. Its kind of like sayin to the game designers.."yeah we played your multiplayer but we thought it sucked, so we boosted". Im going for this millie the good old fashioned way, as I actually enjoy the multiplayer. no respect or reward should come to those who boost.

Downloadable content - achievements or no achievements - will you buy it with or without them?
If the content is good, or for a game I love, I'll buy it regardless of whether chievos are included
I'll still buy and play the downloadable content, but achievements would be nice.
Who the hell cares!?
No achievements, no sale ... and that goes for any game ... whether you're GTA or Halo!
Just stop with the DLC achievements full stop ... you're ruining my completion percentage dammit!
